Prep is currently hosting a traveling exhibit from the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG), called First Encounters or Menschen begegnen sich, which explores the history of German immigration to the United States.

The nine exhibit panels, presented in English on one side and in German on the reverse, are on display in the lobbies of Moriarty Science Center, Mulry Hall, and Shalloe Hall.

According to the AATG, the exhibit is designed to address the following questions:

  • What did the first encounters between German immigrants and local populations look like?
  • How did Germans adjust to their new environment?
  • How did Germans contribute to existing communities?

The exhibit will remain on display until next week.
