The Saint Peter’s Prep indoor track and field team, led by Jaylan Sanchez’s meet record in the long jump, had some strong performances on Friday at the Essex County Track Coaches Association Season Opener Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, NY.
Sanchez got better and better each jump, using his final jump to get the victory with a 21-3.5 mark. That mark broke the meet record of 21-3 set last year and is an early season NJ #2 jump.
Joseph Morrone also started the season off strong, finishing third in the 400m dash with a new indoor seasons best time of 51.56, good for NJ #4. Fitzroy Ledgister finished fifth in the 200m dash (23.21) and Luqman Gbadamassi finished eighth in the 400m (52.54).
Next up for the Marauders will be the Spiked Shoe Invitational at the New York Armory today at 9 A.M in New York, NY.
