In some ways, it was a strange scene: (nearly) the entire freshman class, gathered in one place for the very first time, just as the school year is winding down. But as the Prep courtyard was filled with the energy and enthusiasm of the Class of 2024—and many of their parents—on Tuesday, this was in fact just the latest step in the journey back to normal life at Grand & Warren.
With more than 400 people in attendance (counting freshmen and parents), it was time for Prep to celebrate the Class of 2024, and for the Class of 2024 to celebrate the achievements of a challenging year and the promise of what lies ahead.
The day began with Mass, which included reflections from three of Prep’s newest alumni on what it means to be open to growth, religious, and committed to doing justice.
After Mass, a proud Prep tradition continued with the presentation of Freshman Magis Awards to 20 outstanding members of the Class of 2024. Lunch, outdoor games, and a chance to catch up with (or meet!) classmates followed, a welcome sight near the end of a year that has made these unstructured moments harder to come by.
The Magis Award recipients were nominated by their classmates and teachers, and selected by a committee of faculty and staff members. The awards recognize freshmen who have emerged as leaders among their class, striving to do more in their lives as part of the Prep community.
