On January 27th, Prep hosted a special blood drive in honor of John Stemkowski, ’15. There is currently a nationwide shortage of blood donations and John has been directly impacted. As he battles leukemia, blood is vital for John’s bone marrow transplants. At the end of December, Mrs. Stemkowski, John’s mother, reached out asking if there was anything we at Prep could do. We were immediately all in, knowing we had to help our Prep brother.

In less than a month we were able to work directly with RWJ to schedule and implement a blood drive for John. It is a true testament to the Prep community that within just a few days all the time slots were filled and the waiting list grew. Individuals from all facets of Prep life came to school on a cold day to donate for someone in need. This included faculty, staff, former and current parents, alumni, and students. In the end, Prep was able to donate 51 units of blood!
